Shade fabric colour selection

Choosing HDPE Shade Fabric Colours for Projects: Appearance Is Only One Decision

· Shades Systems

A fabric colour that complements the building can start the discussion about car parking shades, but a catalogue image should not close the decision. For Saudi parking and outdoor-area projects, separate sample appearance, product performance and the site coverage review. This guide explains a practical colour approval and change process. It does not prescribe one colour for every location or identify a grade supplied by Shades Systems. Ratings and approvals must match the proposed product and colour.

Approve an actual colour sample

Request a sample of the proposed product and colour with a clear identifier. Review it alongside the project finishes in appropriate viewing conditions and record who approved its appearance. A photograph can support discussion but should not replace the agreed sample. If two samples share a colour name but look different, resolve that discrepancy before treating the offers as interchangeable.

Keep shade factor and UV block separate

The GALE Commercial NinetyFive reference profile lists shade factor and ultraviolet block in separate columns, with colour-specific rows. Do not transfer a rating between columns or apply a maximum to every colour. This is a document-reading example, not evidence that Shades Systems supplies that manufacturer. Obtain data for the actual offered colour and refer its suitability to the responsible specialist.

Avoid ranking colours by visual darkness

Treat colour as an appearance choice that also needs an independent performance review. Do not assume a sample meets the project shading requirement or turn a laboratory figure into a promised temperature inside a parked car. Define the requirements to be checked, then connect each to the appropriate product evidence rather than a visual impression.

Review the occupied site as well as the fabric

Fabric approval alone does not establish where shade will fall during the intended operating hours. Request a coverage review against parking bays, seating, pedestrian routes and site orientation. Identify priority areas and times, and refer coverage decisions to the designer. Fabric area or a photograph taken at one time should not become a guarantee that every vehicle is shaded throughout the day.

Reopen both reviews when a colour changes

If a different colour is requested after approval, review appearance and product suitability together. Acceptance of a replacement swatch does not establish that the earlier performance record covers it. Obtain the alternative colour reference, supporting information and responsible approval before releasing fabrication. Record the decision so that purchasing and production receive the same instruction.

Define how stages and replacement pieces will be identified

For phased work, agree how the colour will be identified on drawings, orders and receiving records. Ask the supplier what appearance consistency between batches can be committed to and how future replacement pieces should be assessed. Do not promise absolute matching or permanent colour stability without written conditions. Retain the agreed reference sample and product record.

Issue a colour decision that purchasing can use

Provide the approved sample, colour code, supporting data reference, intended use and person responsible for alternatives in one decision record. Include the layout, consultant requirements and colour request in the enquiry, then discuss HDPE and car parking shade options within that scope. The gallery images illustrate fabric canopy colours; they do not identify a commercial colour code or prove product performance.

Frequently asked questions

Is a darker colour always better for car shades?

Do not rank options by appearance alone. Review the product and colour data against the intended use.

Does UV block mean the same percentage of shade?

Do not substitute the terms. Check the named column and its definition in the product documents.

Do the photographs establish an available fabric grade or colour?

No. They are illustrations from the service gallery. Product, colour and availability must be established in the quotation and approval.
